ALTAY TUZ (1993) lives and works in Hamburg, Denizli and İstanbul.
He graduated from the Photography Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, İstanbul and in 2016 as an exchange student was enrolled in the class of Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg where he is currently pursuing his graduate studies.
His main focus is public/private space and how people shape their own spaces. In his works, he researches notions such as borders, lines, barriers and walls, and analyzes the reflection of this visual grammar on the public architectural texture and its connection to social class distinction.
His works have been exhibited at İstanbul Photobook Festival (2016); Cosmos, Arles (2016); PH21 Gallery, Budapest (2017); Rencontres Photographiques de Montpellier (2017); SKG Bridges Festival, Thessaloniki (2017); Plovdiv International Festival of Photography (2017); BursaPhotoFest (2017); Thessaloniki Photo Biennial (2018); Mardin Biennial (2018); Elgiz Museum, İstanbul (2018); Mamut Art Project, İstanbul (2018) and Westwerk, Hamburg (2021). He has attended several workshops such as ‘Resource Utopia / Utopia as Source’ by Goethe Institut Istanbul, Pavlov’s Dog Gallery Berlin & NOKS Independent Art Space, İstanbul (2018).
