ELÇİN ACUN - BLIND GAZE

“How will you go about finding that thing the nature of which is totally unknown to you?" (Plato)
“Leave the door open for the unknown, the door into the dark. That’s where the most important things come from, where you yourself came from, and where you will go.” (Rebecca Solnit, A Field Guide to Getting Lost)

Get rid of all you know, let yourself go with the flow of the world, dissolve and integrate in time that flows independent of all existential concerns. Only then, everything that encompasses that time zone will be pulled back. Get rid of spreading, invading, flamboyant and loud shouts, necessities and agencies, hold on to the possibility of remaining in uncertainty and mystery, drop all the weight you carry in one place, be the core, then you can be free for unconventional adventures. Without a doubt, it is completely dark where you are.  Get lost to find yourself again.

The ‘Blind Gaze’ series, which I produced with the influence of Rebecca Solnit's book, ‘A Field Guide to Getting Lost’, is the manifestation of an era in which I heavily thought about ‘disappearance’. It is the projection of the adventure of discovering the center of my own darkness among the haunted creatures in the abyss of the night. It is the result of a disappearance attempt.
