GİZEM CAN (1990) lives and works in Çanakkale.
She graduated from the Photography Department of Dokuz Eylül University in 2019.
Inspired by the Pop Art movement, she incorporates intense and vibrant use of colour in her works with a touch of humorous and cinematographic approach. With the help of self-portraits and still life photography, she mainly deals with the issues related to being stuck at home, state of waiting, boredom and changes in a person’s mood related to all these.
Her works have been exhibited at BursaFotoFest (2020); ‘üTAS Graduation Projects’, Good Design Days‘, İzmir (2019); ‘Design without Designer’, Good Design Days 2, İzmir (2017) and ‘For the People’, Toronto (2017).
She is also involved in short film making as a director and scriptwriter, and currently preparing for her graduate studies on cinema.
She is a member of the art platform MAGNET and an affiliate of PLATFORM by GAPO.
