ALTAY TUZ - SOME İSTANBUL HOUSES

‘Some İstanbul Houses’ is a project that is looking at the highly secured, heavily walled gated communities of İstanbul’s finest houses. 
For me, there is more than one layer to these houses. Many of these houses have been designed by top architects. Which is an opportunity, achievement and platform for them to show and promote their designs, but only a privileged minority have the chance to see them. 
Personally, I see these walled houses as family portraits. I like to imagine and stage the scene about these houses and the people who live there in my mind. I wonder about the people inside, and the mystery behind them: ‘‘What kind of fear or anxiety could push people to build these walls?’’
